Two-channel artificial soundscape, MP3 players, speakers, camera mount, iPad stand, PVC, Google maps satellite photograph of Atlantic Ocean, Google maps satellite photograph of Amazon Basin, water from the River Ganges bought on eBay, aquarium decorations, terrarium decorations, artificial lichen.

‘sɪnˈθetɪk səmˈsɑːrə’ (the phonetic spelling of ‘Synthetic Saṃsāra’) combines animal, insect and amphibious sounds from across various timespans and geographic sites to create an artificial ecosystem. The soundscape is constructed of sounds that defy our preconceptions of the organic, revealing biomimicry within machine noise and questioning our ability to distinguish between machine and being.
